If anyone is Christ he is a new creation. Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ. We are making appeals as though God was doing it. 2 Corinthians 5:17, 20
Many times I have wondered if I am acting like an ambassador for Christ or am I responding as the world does? Someone who has been hanging around the guide (Holy Spirit) should be like a foreigner in a new land. In John 17:16 Jesus says we are not of this world. We may be “in” it but not “of” it.
When I am around someone who is different from the world I watch how they respond, act, and treat others. I have a feeling it’s because they have been spending time with Jesus. They just carry themselves differently. If we only knew the anointing, the authority, and the difference we carry when we are in Christ. We are his ambassadors and the spiritual atmosphere changes. There is a confidence, a peace, and a strength that follows us around.
On this trip of the last few days, I wonder what kind of fragrance I am producing. What do others smell? What do they experience in my conversations? Maybe more than anytime in the recent past, us being ambassadors can make a big difference in this fight. Whether it’s our family, our friends, or those we come in contact with.
The other day a young man was walking up our road. He was carrying a gas can. I could tell it was awkward for him to come up and ask for help. After a short conversation, he began to be more at ease. We then got to talk about a lot more than him needing gas. I asked him if I could take him to his car. He was so thankful because it was raining. When I left him, what he said made a lasting impression on me. He said that when he got the chance to help someone else he wanted to treat them the way he was treated.
As I drove back home I told the Lord I was so thankful for the opportunity to be an ambassador for Him. I would encourage you to pay close attention to those who might be stranded on the side of the road. We are on a trip where there are many who need help. Also, if you are the one who needs help don’t try to go it alone. There are many who would like to help.
