Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Hebrews 12:1
I hope you have started to make it a habit to pray for all that are affected by this pandemic. Pray for the leaders, they are having to make tough decisions. Pray for those who have become sick. Pray for those who have lost their jobs. Also pray to the God that created all, ask him to come against this disease—to stop it in its tracks. Last, ask him to use you to bring peace and comfort to those who don’t know Him.
When I was a young boy I was a member of the Boy Scouts. Their motto was to be prepared. This pandemic is so outside the normal that it has been hard to be prepared for. Be positive about who you are and Who is in you. He is the one that has prepared you for a time such as this.
It looks like we need to prepare for a long journey. The question I asked on one of my earlier posts, “Are we there yet?” can be answered. Probably not for another month or two, unless God desires to end it. The journey we are on has become longer than we want it to be. It is now so important for those of us who are led by the Spirit to run the race with confidence. The one who began a good work in us will finish it. (Philippians 1:6)
Every part of this journey will produce something positive or something negative. What are you going to let it produce in you? If we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and persevere, we will finish the race and receive a crown of life. (James 1:12). This testing is going to produce perseverance. Consider it joy and let perseverance produce maturity causing you to lack in nothing. (James 1:1-4). Because of Jesus we can run the race with confidence and hope. He will be our rock. You were created for a time such as this. You are the light of the world (Mathew 5:14). We know that these momentary troubles are achieving for us eternal glory (2 Corinthians 4:17). We also know that if God is for us who can be against us (Romans 8:31).
You are running a good race—don’t get cut off (Galatians 5:7).
